Bradenton, FL - Twin waterspouts appeared off the coast of Bradenton captivating residents as they swirled over the Gulf before drifting safely away without causing damage.

Unusual weather swept across parts of Florida late Sunday afternoon as two waterspouts were spotted forming off the coast near Bradenton, drawing attention from residents across Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Shortly after 5:30 in the evening, viewers began submitting photos and videos to local stations as the waterspouts became visible from several locations, including Anna Maria Island, Palmetto, and areas surrounding the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.

The twisting columns of water could be seen rising from the Gulf as a line of storms moved across the region, creating dramatic scenes against the backdrop of a darkening sky.

Local news outlets reported that while the waterspouts appeared powerful, they remained over water and never made landfall.

No tornado warnings were issued, and the National Weather Service determined that the funnels posed no threat to life or property.

The dual spouts eventually shifted course and traveled northwest, further out into open water, before dissipating.

Meteorologists describe waterspouts as intense but typically short-lived phenomena that form when cold air passes over warm waters.

Though not uncommon in the Gulf region, the appearance of two at once near populated beaches and a major airport is considered rare.

No injuries or damages were reported.

Experts urge the public to use caution when near bodies of water during storm activity, as waterspouts can quickly strengthen and become dangerous if they reach shore.
