Miami, FL - Miami is paying tribute to one of its most influential cultural figures by renaming a street after Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell.
City commissioners recently approved a resolution to designate a section of Northwest 11th Avenue, spanning from Northwest 58th Street to Northwest 60th Street, as "Luther Campbell Way."
Campbell, 64, is best known as the leader of the groundbreaking rap group 2 Live Crew, but his impact extends beyond music.
He has made significant contributions as a community advocate, entrepreneur, and former political candidate.
Following the announcement, Campbell shared his excitement on social media, stating that having a street named after him in his hometown is as meaningful as receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He also emphasized that the honor is a symbol of inspiration for those from tough neighborhoods, proving that their origins do not define their future.
This street renaming serves as a recognition of Campbell’s lasting influence on Miami’s cultural landscape and his dedication to the local community.
