(Miami, FL) - Meteorologists at the National Hurricane center are monitoring an upper-level disturbance with the chance of development in the Gulf of America.

Forecasters think it will track to the west crossing over Central Florida Monday emerging into the Gulf by late Tuesday gradually developing by the end of the week.

The National Hurricane Center currently gives it a 20% chance of development over the next seven days with fuel from the warm Gulf waters mixing with a high-pressure ridge.

So far, the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane season has been quiet, but forecasters believe we'll see more action during the heart of the season.

If the system becomes a named storm, it will Dexter.

The first three tropical storms, Andrea, Barry and Chantal, were weak and short-lived.
