New Daily COVID-19 Cases More Than Double Over 3 Weeks In Palm Beach County

The Director of the Department of Health in Palm Beach County is concerned about an upward trend in coronavirus cases.

Dr. Alina Alonso told county commissioners on Tuesday that the average number of new daily cases has more than doubled from 110 just three weeks ago.

"And now in this third week we are 250 cases per day. We had a high of 347."

She says the situation will need to be monitored carefully as we head towards the winter months, when more visitors will be in town.

"We're handling it quite well. We have all our contact tracers in place."

But, Dr. Alonso says the funding from the state for that contact tracing is set to end next month. The county has been speaking with state officials to come up with more funding.
