As drivers heading west on Interstate 80 left New Jersey and crossed into Pennsylvania, they noticed a new sign had been put up underneath the blue "Welcome to Pennsylvania" sign. The smaller white signs simply stated, "Sorry, we're closed."
It is unknown who put the sign up, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has not said if they plan to remove it.
The sign was installed as New Jersey struggles to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. New Jersey has the second most number of cases in the country with more than 41,000 as of Tuesday (April 7). Just over 1,000 people in the state have died because of COVID-19.
In Pennsylvania, there are more than 13,2000 cases and 179 deaths.
